Tony Bucher — Founder & Managing Principal
Tony Bucher has spent more than 30 years at the intersection of Japan and Silicon Valley, building companies, advising institutions, and opening markets.
Tony began his career in manufacturing, working in Bridgestone's Tokyo headquarters handling product planning for the US market, giving him an early and formative education in Japanese corporate culture. He went on to serve as a founding business development member at Nikkei BP BizTech, a corporate venture of Nikkei Business Publications, and NetGravity Asia-Pacific, the Internet's first commercial ad server. At NetGravity he helped to establish its dominant market position across Japan and Asia Pacific. He subsquently co-founded Denalii, a VC-funded pan-Asia Pacific content management and media syndication venture with offices in five cities, which was successfully acquired by Divine, Inc. in 2002.
Tony was also Co-Founder and Managing Partner of iSearch Worldwide, a recruiting and advisory firm serving Japan and Silicon Valley across enterprise SaaS, data management, mediatech, and related domains.
He spent six years as a Silicon Valley advisor to Nikkei (日本経済新聞社), Japan's leading economic daily, on US media and technology trends.
He holds degrees from Columbia University and UC Berkeley.
